Size 8 Competition Barbless Hook, 2" long
New for 2026. The Deep Fake Leech was born at Pyramid Lake, Nevada. I needed an ultra slim, fast sinking fly that was barbless, with an ultra sticky needle point hook, that balances under an indicator and gets eaten by fish. Normal balanced leeches are really hard to cast on two handed rods- the pin and bead sticking way out in front of the eye digs into the water, making spey or roll casts much less effective. The Deep Fake still balances, but utilizes a different format of tungsten bead that provides an ultra slim body profile (without the added bulk of a pin running up the shank of the fly) while maintaining a horizontal presentation. Try these on your local stillwater- I haven't yet found a place that trout won't eat them. These first couple batches are made with special bead colors that I painted myself- to get exactly the right colors.
