2.5", size 6 heavy jig hook
Formerly called the "Ice Perch", the Deep Dive is a no-nonsense jig streamer that comes in two weights- utilizing a 4.8mm tungsten bead on the regular, and a 6.4mm on the Extra Heavy.
The slim profile easily matches small minnows- chubs, suckers, dace, shiners, perch, whitefish, and trout fry. Fishing a heavy fly on a jig hook allows the angler to get their fly in the zone without snagging as often, which is a huge key to tricking a big trout. They have a flowing, diving action when retrieved on a jerky strip. Fish love to hit them on a dead fall as they sink.
The Deep Dive is an excellent choice as an anchor fly when Euro nymphing. Its soft rabbit body has great movement on a dead drift.
The Extra Heavy variants sink about twice the rate of the regular Deep Dive, and will allow you to reach fish in very deep water or heavy current. Please be extremely careful casting these flies- they are heavy enough to cause serious injury.
