The chubby chernobyl platform is pattern that speaks for itself. In creating this fly I, haven't invented anything new- my approach was to optimize and tweak this bug to make it better than your average fly shop chubby in a number of ways.
The blend of dubbing used on the body is relatively light for imitating salmonfly adults, and can just as readily suggest golden stoneflies. It has a UV flash to it, and really lights up when you get it wet. The dubbing and foam can easily be colored with a black, brown, orange, or red sharpie to achieve different colors (which I highly recommend).
Double stacked foam increases the buoyancy and durability of this bug and helps it keep dropper rigs floating.
The gray wing is much more subtle and natural; I have found large, wary trout to be more willing to eat it than the traditional white wing.
The glow foam tab allows you to use this bug in the late evening and into the night when big trout eating stoneflies are often very active.
The particular type of legs this fly uses are more buoyant than almost any other rubber legs and their length and position helps keep the fly floating perfectly upright, while offering an enticing wiggle and water displacement that trout really key in on.
